Best Board Games for 6 Year old boys

Buying board games for 6 year old boys can be tough. I know when my nephew was that age we were constantly trying to find games that would challenge him, but not be so challenging that he did not enjoy playing them. Below I have composed a list of the board games he enjoyed the most, plus games that I as his uncle also enjoyed playing with him. I hope they give some good inspiration for family trying to find any table top game suitable for 6 year old boys.

Ticket to Ride First Journey

ticket to ride first journey review

Number of Players: 2-4

Age: 6+

Time: 15-30 min

Pricing: High

Ticket to Ride: first journey is the kid adaption of a popular European style board game called ticket to ride. This game differs from the original with a smaller map and a faster game time. This is a great game for any 6 year old boy who loves trains and is a great way to start teaching them about geography. I personally love the ticket to ride series and see this as a great Segway to kids into the more serious board games when they are older.

Catan Junior is a great game to get kids to learn some fundamentals of board game strategy and resource trading. Based off the very popular Settlers of Catan, Catan Junior is another great game to help transition younger kids into more serious board games. This was a personal favorite of mine to play with my nephew as he quickly was able to form surprising complicated strategies for obtaining resources.  The pirate theme is also popular with young boys and has fun artwork that is pleasing to even adults.
